Exemptions from examinations

Are you a current student of the Faculty or the Institute of Actuaries?

To apply for exemptions from some of our professional exams you must be a student member of the Faculty or the Institute of Actuaries. If you are not currently a student find out how to become a student or email admissions@actuaries.org.uk for more information.

If you are a current student of the Faculty or the Institute of Actuaries, the Actuarial Profession is prepared to give you credit for having already demonstrated a sufficient knowledge of our examination syllabus.

The Actuarial Profession is unable to advise you on the degree programme, or the programme options, which you need to take. Our best advice is to take the programme where your abilities are the strongest, as actuarial employers are looking for a minimum 2.1 in a numerical degree.

If you have already achieved a required standard in a university programme, or in an alternative qualification with another professional body recognised by us, we may grant exemptions from some of our professional exams. Do you hold any of the following? Follow the links to find out about available exemptions.

Mutual Recognition

If you are a fully qualified actuary with a body outside the UK your qualification may be recognised by the UK Profession under Mutual Recognition arrangements. Further information
