CERA seminar

The CERA seminar aims to enable delegates to investigate and discuss more practical applications of enterprise risk management, which is not possible in the time allowed for the exam. The seminar was one of the recommendations of the CERA Board, when they reviewed our CERA qualification.

The seminar can be attended by anyone who has passed, or been exempted from, Subject ST9 since September 2012. Following attendance those who have also qualified as an Associate or as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries will be eligible to apply for the CERA designation.

The seminars are held in London currently, and the cost of attendance is £400.00.

The next seminars are due to be held in October and November 2013. Seminar dates for 2014 will be released shortly.

What’s involved in the seminar?

Before the seminar you will need to do some preparation work:

  • calculations for a team presentation
  • reading for a governance case study
  • preparation for a debate

You will be sent a pre-seminar workbook giving full details of what is needed.

On the day of the seminar you will:

  • take an active part in discussion, lively debates and case studies
  • have the opportunity to meet and talk to senior risk officers
  • build on the pre-seminar work that you will have done
  • undertake challenging and thought provoking team exercises

Before joining the seminar you will be put in touch with your allocated team members using an online community on the website where you can get to know each other, and also discuss the preparatory work you have done.

The October and November seminars are now full. Dates for future seminars will be announced shortly
