Certified Actuarial Analyst: amendments to Bye-laws - the results

On 17 June, voting opened to eligible members to decide on the changes to the Bye-laws that these proposals required. The results of the vote are detailed below.

In accordance with Article 14 of the Royal Charter of the IFoA, it is hereby resolved by the members that the following changes to the Bye-laws (with consequential amendments throughout the Bye-laws and Regulations) are carried:

  • Insertion of a definition and membership category “Certified Actuarial Analyst”.
  • Insertion of a definition and membership category “Student Actuarial Analyst”.
  • Insertion of a reference to the educational entry requirements and fees payable on admission by Student Actuarial Analysts.
  • Insertion of a reference to the qualification requirements and usage of designated initials for the Certified Actuarial Analyst category.

In order for the Motion to be passed, Article 14 of the Charter required approval by a simple majority of those entitled to vote and voting. The quorum for the vote was 50.

Total of all Votes Cast:               2421

Number of Votes in Favour:        1764

Number of Votes Against:           657

A majority of 72.9% voted in favour: therefore the Motion is carried. The formal record of the vote is available here.
