Chris Lewin

Chris Lewin has spent most of his career in pensions management, notably at British Rail, Associated Newspapers, Guinness and Unilever. He recently did some work for the Department of Work and Pensions, related to the law on risk-sharing occupational pension schemes.

Chris leads the joint risk-management initiative of the actuarial and civil engineering professions, and has been chairman of the Project Risk Appraisal (RAMP) working party and a member of the STRATrisk steering group. He edited both the RAMP Handbook and the STRATrisk Guide. An article by him, entitled "Enterprise Risk Management and Civil Engineering" appeared in the November 2006 issue of Civil Engineering. Chris is currently leading a research exercise on the methodology for taking social and environmental considerations into account in the appraisal of major projects.
