Gordon Wood started his training with the Life Association of Scotland before moving to London in the 1980's. He worked for 2 life companies there and first became Appointed Actuary to one of them in 1992.
He returned to Edinburgh in 1994 as FD and Appointed Actuary to National and Provincial's bancassurance arm.
Following their takeover by Abbey National in 1996 Gordon became Chief Risk Officer to their life assurance companies in Glasgow, Scottish Mutual and latterly Scottish Provident. He moved onto other roles, firstly COO of Abbey's fund management company, before becoming Head of Actuarial Function to Abbey's life companies.
He is currently based back in Edinburgh again, as a consulting actuary with Ernst and Young.
As well as Deputy Chairman to the ERM PEC, Gordon is a council member of the Faculty of Actuaries and a member of the Life PEC.
