Derivatives: a practical guide for users by Simon Richards and Graeme McAusland

The trustee perspective by Carol Perry

Pension Scheme Investing, the role of derivatives by Gwion Moore

Why attend?

Derivatives are becoming an increasingly important part of investment strategy for pension schemes and insurers. Therefore, actuaries working in these areas, both within and outside a formal investment advisory role, are required to have a deepening understanding of both the theoretical uses of these instruments and the practical implications of implementing strategies included in them.

This event will provide an update on some of the most common uses of derivatives in pension scheme and insurance company asset strategy. It will also highlight some of the practical issues to be aware of when dealing with derivatives and when to call in the specialists!

Who should attend?

This session is a must for any actuary needing to consider assets as well as liabilities in their work. A basic knowledge of investment is assumed, however this session is intended for actuaries working outside an investment only capacity, as well as investment consultants.

The session will cover pensions and insurance as examples however, as the focus is on practical investment issues, actuaries from other areas should also find the content relevant.
