Why attend?

In 2010, the global financial crisis spread from the banking sector to sovereign debt.  As we enter 2011, the sovereign debt crisis and particularly the future of the Euro, are a key concern for investors and markets.  This talk will ask:

  • are the debt positions and fiscal plans of the UK and Euro nations sustainable?
  • will the measures so far put in place be sufficient to avoid a sovereign default or debt restructure in 2011?
  • even if default is avoided, can the Euro survive in its current form, will it break-up or will it evolve to greater fiscal union?
  • what are the implications for economies and markets?

Steven Major is the Global Head of Fixed Income Research at HSBC and a leading industry commentator on the financial crisis.   He will share his views on these and other issues at this highly topical open forum.

Who should attend?

This open forum should be of wide interest to actuaries from all practice areas.
