Spring Lecture: Britain's Fiscal Watchdog: A View from the Kennel

09 May 2013 17:00 to 20:00

Speaker: Robert Chote, Chairman of the OBR

In May 2010, the UK Government established the Office of Budgetary Responsibility (OBR) to provide independent and authoritative analysis of the UK’s public finances. Three years on, we are delighted that Robert Chote, Chairman of the OBR, will be delivering the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries 2013 Spring Lecture in London on Thursday 9 May.

Robert will outline the role of the OBR and the interactions with other parts of UK Government. The wider role of fiscal watchdogs will also be considered, including the approach taken by other countries who have often been grappling with different issues. Robert will reflect on lessons learned from the last three years and future challenges.
