Is there a place in the UK DC pensions market for a guaranteed savings product? And what could it look like? Breakfast networking event

23 October 2012 08:15 to 10:00

Steve Webb, Minister of State for Pensions, challenged the industry to find a way to create an affordable guaranteed pensions product. The Investment Products for Retirement Savings Working Party (IPRSWP) at the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries has investigated the practicalities of providing such a product, asking questions like:

  • Is there a place in the market for a guaranteed product?
  • What investment guarantees exist in the UK pension system and around the world?
  • Do these fit with the typical wants and needs of the UK’s mass pension market?
  • What are the economic features for providing an investment guarantee and managing investment risk?
  • Are the products that provide investment guarantees appropriate?
  • What are the practical issues that could occur in providing a mass market guaranteed pension product?

At this event the findings of the IPRSWP report will be presented and discussed.
