Actuaries have traditionally played a valuable role in the insurance industry, particularly in areas such as reserving, pricing and capital and the skill set they have become known for plays naturally to this (e.g, quantitative, analytical, technical).

As the industry and regulation of the profession develops how can actuaries most effectively apply their traditional quantitative technical skills.  What new objective analytical skills are required to take up new opportunities and face challenges?

How can this all be achieved - with a growing need to communicate outside the profession?
