About the conference

The annual Pensions Conference is where professionals from across the industry join to debate, to learn about and to share their experiences of the issues of the day. The conference is open to all who work in, or have an interest in, the pensions sector (not just pensions actuaries).

Taking account of feedback from previous Conferences, we have built an exciting and diverse programme covering a broad range of technical matters, softer skills and professionalism topics, as well as a number of ‘big picture’ issues. The Conference is topical and forward looking in its content, with the aim of generating thought and debate around the issues covered. We are aware that individuals attend the Conference from different backgrounds and for different reasons. Therefore, we have tried to achieve a balance between sessions that give a broad overview of a subject and others that are more specialist, similarly a balance between immediately ‘practical’ topics and others designed to make you think.

We are delighted that the Pensions Minister, Steve Webb, has agreed to speak and he has much to talk about that will interest us.

So that we could include all the material we wished to cover, this year we have added an additional plenary session and hence the Conference will start on the Wednesday evening. You will also be pleased to hear that you will be able to claim up to 11 hours towards your CPD requirement.

Most importantly, there will be many opportunities for you to network with your fellow pensions professionals – this is one of the most valuable (and enjoyable) features of the Conference.

We look forward to seeing you at Celtic Manor,

Chris Mapp, Chair, Pensions Conference 2013
