Liaison with cat model developers

The remit of this working party is to explore issues of mutual interest between the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and the catastrophe model developers.  It is a newly established working party having formed in 2012.

Objectives:-

  • The initial focus of the working party will be to produce a document to support actuaries with differing roles in their understanding of the models.
  • To help the model developers understand the levels at which actuaries use model output within companies.

Outputs:-

  • A detailed Q&A document covering more specific and potentially detailed questions. Many of the answers to these questions are already in the public domain but the intention is to help point actuaries who don’t know where to look in the right direction.

It is hoped that, over time, the working party can continue the liaison with the model developers and the remit can increase.
