UK deafness claims working party
The remit of this working party is to facilitate market data collection and investigate claims experience relating to deafness/noise induced hearing loss in the UK. The working party formed in March 2012.
Objectives:-
- Facilitate a market wide data collection exercise to understand the current trends that the Insurance Market is facing in relation to deafness / noise induced hearing loss claims.
- Develop relationships with relevant parties e.g. Health and Safety Executive (HSE), Compensation Recovery Unit (CRU), claims handlers, solicitors, other parties perhaps yet to be identified that are relevant to the compensation process, to assist understanding and / or gather additional data items available to help understand the recent experience.
- Research and compare methodologies used to reserve deafness claims.
Outputs:-
- Conducted Survey Aug’12.
- Presented at CIGI 2013.
- Aiming to produce a paper and run a workshop for GIRO 2013 (GIRO40).
