Advisory note on the US terrorist attacks (the WTC event) of 11 September 2001

This Advisory Note has been issued by the General Insurance Board to supplement the Guidance Notes on reports and opinions produced under GNs 12, 18, 20 and 33. The Advisory Note does not represent formal guidance from the Faculty and Institute of Actuaries, and does not form part of the Guidance Notes.

In order to assist actuaries dealing with the practical and technical considerations for their year end work arising from the WTC event, and to suggest possible wordings for reports and opinions produced, a paper has also been prepared - the World Trade Center (WTC) Working Party Paper - and this is being issued under cover of the Advisory Note to all Home Fellows.

Copies of the paper are available from the Secretariat. The General Insurance Board may issue a revised advisory note in January 2002 and will ensure that any changes are publicised to the profession.
