Annuity values presented at CILA on 28 September 2005 [pdf] : The annuity values presented by the CMI at CILA were calculated using improvement factors derived from projections carried out using the P-Spline models. The P-Spline parameters used by the CMI for this purpose and a brief description of how the annuity values were calculated from the P-Spline projections is given in the attached note.
Please note that the parameters set out in this note are provided only to provide information to replicate the annuity values presented. These parameters are not recommended by the CMI.
23rd - 24th September 2004 - Edinburgh - Workshop on Lee-Carter Methods : An invitation-only workshop on projecting future mortality was held in Edinburgh as part of the Mortality Projections Working Party's ongoing research into this area. The CMI is very grateful to Iain Currie for organising this event.
4th June 2004 - London - New Standard Mortality Tables: The "00" Series[pdf] : As part of the process of producing a new set of standard mortality tables, the CMI will be holding a half-day seminar at Staple Inn to discuss and gain feedback on Working Papers 8 (to be published shortly) and 3 covering graduation and projection issues respectively.
6th October 2003 - Edinburgh - Projecting Future Mortality[pdf] : The Continuous Mortality Investigation (CMI) intends to produce new standard tables of mortality based on the experience data from the calendar years 1999-2002. As part of this work the CMI is reviewing its projection methodology and, in partnership with the Government Actuary's Department (GAD), will be holding a one-day seminar to bring together experts from related disciplines to ensure that the CMI's and GAD's work is thoroughly informed by current research and development.
