***This Working Paper was published in December 2005. The Coding Guide has subsequently been updated; for the latest version please click here***
The CMI has been consulting with data contributors regarding a move to per-policy data for the Mortality investigations.
This was accompanied by an updated Coding Guide for the CMI Mortality and Critical Illness investigations. Please note this version has subsequently been amended. Please use the link at the top of this page.
The CMI requests that offices supply per-policy data for Mortality at the earliest opportunity using the accompanying version of the Coding Guide. In particular, the CMI intends to cease to accept scheduled data for the Mortality investigations after the 2006 investigation year.
This Coding Guide will undoubtedly require further clarification to be issued as individual offices begin to submit data using this guide. Details of further guidance and the latest version of the Coding Guide is available here. Please email any comments or questions to mortality@cmib.org.uk.
Critical Illness data submissions will continue to be accepted using the current Critical Illness Coding Guide for the foreseeable future, but offices submitting both Mortality and Critical Illness data are encouraged to update their Critical Illness to the latest combined Coding Guide when they amend their Mortality submission.
There is also a large overlap with the in force data requirements for Income Protection, although the claims data is obviously quite different. The possibility of converging the Coding Guide for individual Income Protection business is being considered further.
Working Paper 19 is not intended as a Consultation Paper, but the CMI always welcomes feedback from member offices. We will be particularly grateful for views on the various issues outlined in the Working Paper for further consideration, including:
This does not constitute a formal consultation exercise, but may influence the priority with which the remaining issues are addressed and the direction taken.
