Lump sums to periodic payments and beyond
This short conference, designed for the legal and actuarial professions, follows the implementation of the Courts Act 2003 with its provision for periodic payments for claimants involved in personal injury claims. This development poses several important issues for the legal profession and for actuaries who are called on to advise the courts. In addition, the advent of periodic payments raises longer term questions of policy, about their purpose and what further options could be introduced in the future.
Any queries about the event should be addressed to Martin Hewitt, Secretary, Social Policy Board, on 020 7632 2185, or e-mail: martinh@actuaries.org.uk.
