We aim to post advance papers for the profession's events on the website within 24 hours of papers being received at the Faculty and Institute offices. Availability is therefore dependent apon authors providing their papers in good time.
Delegates are invited to read the notes below before viewing and printing advance papers. Please note that some delegates find it quicker to download the papers to their own system than to print direct from the web.
Logging in
You will need a different user name and password from your normal login to access advance conference papers. These will be sent to you with your joining instructions. If you have already logged in using your ARN and date of birth, please remember to log out, then log in again using the user name and password given in your joining instructions, before you attempt to access the advance papers.
File formats
Papers are available as either Adobe Portable Document (pdf) files, and/or MSPowerpoint (ppt) format. Adobe Portable Document Format (pdf) is the open de facto standard for electronic document distribution world wide. It is a universal file format that preserves the fonts, formatting, colours, and graphics of any source document regardless of the application and platform used to create it. Ppt files contain the slides which speakers will use in their presentations.
To view the papers, you must have the necessary applications installed on your system - Microsoft Powerpoint for ppt files, and Adobe Acrobat for pdf files. If you are unsure whether you have these applications, ask you network administrator. Adobe Acrobat reader can be downloaded free of charge from www.adobe.com.
To view a file, click on the icon. You will be asked what you want to do with the file - open it or save it. If you select 'Open' the appropriate application will be started and the file will be opened. If you select 'Save' you will be asked where you want to save it. Remember where you save it, as you will need to find it again once the download is complete. To find the file on your own system, open the relevant application, and select 'File', 'Open' on the menu bar. Navigate to the correct directory and select the relevant file.
Alternatively, pdf files may open automatically in your web browser window, in which case the Acrobat Reader toolbar will appear above the file. You can then save the file to your own system in the usual way.
