Listed below are some examples of the type of activities that count as CPD. Also shown are the typical hours that can be claimed for participating in these activities.

Service to the Actuarial Profession -
Verifiable CPD:
Typical CPD hours to be claimed:
Membership of Boards, Committees, Councils, including FIMC 7.5 hours per session
Members of more than one board or committee Maximum of 10 hours
Disciplinary Board Maximum of 10 hours per year
Senior or Principal Examiner 10 hours per year
Examiner/Assistant Examiner Maximum of 10 hours for meetings only
Guinea Pigs 6 hours per subject
Writing Core Reading 5 hours per subject
Syllabus reviews (if not an examiner) 2 hours
Careers advisor and/or careers presentations 2 hours per visit to schools or universities
Presenting at conferences held by other organisations Maximum 4 hours
Presenting at an Actuarial Profession Conference, Course or Seminar Maximum 4 hours
Membership of a working party Hours of actual meetings
Writing and presenting Sessional Meeting paper (not a working party paper) 10 hours
Modelling Module Assessor 3 hours per course
Marker for ActEd courses 3 hours per subject
Studying for and passing an exam 10 hours per subject
