Creating opportunities for actuaries in non traditional employment

10 March 2010

Dear Member

We are embarking upon a marketing project targeting non traditional employers in financial sectors, such as investment institutions, banking and asset management, as well as across other business sectors. The central aim is to raise awareness of actuaries expertise in managing risk and the contribution actuaries potentially can make in these sectors and, in particular, to promote the associate qualification and the new Chartered Enterprise Risk Actuary (CERA) qualification.

As one of a few members working at senior level in a related area, we would particularly value your participation in the project and wonder if it might be possible to interview you by telephone to help us to gain insights that will inform our campaign.

The interview would explore topics such as your own experience of moving to and working in a non-traditional area, as well as the changing emphasis on risk management within your organisation. We would also like to gain an understanding of the opportunities and challenges these changes may bring to actuaries and the skills required for risk management roles.

We are working with brand and communications consultant Shiela Lumsden and her agency Slam Branding on this project and wonder if it might be possible for Shiela to contact you directly to arrange a suitable time for an interview. If you would like to take part or nominate an alternative contact, please let me know and I will make the appropriate arrangements.

Kind regards
