Resource and environment member interest group (REG MIG)
The purpose of the Resource and environment group is to raise awareness of the implications of resource depletion and climate change for actuaries, and to highlight those factors upon which actuarial practitioners should consider when giving advice.
Environmental and resource constraints are having an ever increasing impact on the economy, society and business. These issues, in particular energy, are now core to many businesses and investment decisions.
The Resource and environment group's main activities are:
- Research
- Keeping up-to-date on developments
- Providing engagement opportunities with members and associate organisations
- Raising the profile of the profession and promoting its skill-set
Projects in progress:
- Member-led research - Third literature review (more information will be made available in the Linkedin Group)
- RFP - DECC nuclear proposal
Information is passed on through:
- Presentations at actuarial conferences
- Discussions on the Linkedin Group and online member group
- Contributions to The Actuary magazine
- Publication of quarterly newsletters
- Topical updates through Twitter
- Library resources
