Chartered Enterprise Risk Actuary (CERA) - launch of the Verifiable Experienced Practitioner (VEP) award
01 February 2013Since 2010, the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries has been permitted to award the Chartered Enterprise Risk Actuary (CERA) qualification to its Associates and Fellows who have passed the ST9 Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Specialist Technical examination (and, from September 2012, have also attended a one day seminar).
In 2012, the CERA Board granted the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries additional permission allowing the award of the CERA designation to a restricted number of its members who demonstrate a significant level of enterprise risk management expertise and experience, without the need to sit the ST9 examination or attend the seminar. A key objective is to accelerate the establishment of CERA as a premier risk management qualification within the UK by extending it to include experienced ERM practitioners.
The first stage of this process was the recognition in 2012 of ten ERM Thought Leaders. The second stage, the Verifiable Experienced Practitioner (VEP) route, is now open to those who meet the requirements.
Successful applicants will be those who are able to demonstrate a very high level of experience, where this is enterprise risk management based, and has been obtained at a senior level.
