The General Insurance Research Organising (GIRO) Committee is responsible for co-ordinating the General Insurance Board's programme of research and for organising the annual General Insurance Convention.

The GIRO Committee is also responsible for the award of the Brian Hey Prize which is presented annually to the best paper submitted to that year's GIRO Convention (see below).
