Memorandums of understanding

To facilitate the exchange of appropriate information, the Actuarial Profession has signed memorandums of understanding with the following bodies:

  • Pension Protection Fund
    This memorandum sets out the guidelines and procedures for the exchange of information between the Faculty of Actuaries, the Institute of Actuaries and the Board of the Pension Protection Fund; and also co-operation and co-ordination between the Profession and the Board. [Feb 2009]
  • Pensions Regulator
    This memorandum sets out the guidelines and procedures for the exchange of information between the Faculty of Actuaries, the Institute of Actuaries and the Pensions Regulator; and also for co-operation and co-ordination between the Profession and the Regulator. [Nov 2006]
  • Financial Reporting Council
    The Financial Reporting Council seeks to promote high quality actuarial practice and the integrity, competence and transparency of the actuarial profession. This memorandum summarises the respective responsibilities of the FRC and the Actuarial Profession. [May 2006]
  • Financial Services Authority
    This memorandum concerns: exempt professional firms; pre-N2 business conducted by firms certified by the Institute of Actuaries under section 15 of the Financial Services Act 1986; and authorised professional firms. [Jun 2003]
