The Actuarial Profession's objective in submitting this response is to offer technical expertise on the implications for different policy choices facing the government\; those policy choices are outlined in the consultation document. We would like to emphasise the most important point we wish to make, namely the considerable uncertainty which exists regarding the future incidence and cost of claims related to pleural plaques.
