The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries Mortality Seminar Series: Exploring the future; defining the questions

Following the success of the Emerging trends in mortality and longevity symposium 2011and analysis of the feedback received, the Mortality Research Steering Committee is planning to hold a series of small events/workshops around key mortality themes to be held over the next two years, culminating in a major conference in September/October 2014.

 

A series of keynote speakers will address each event and discussions will be captured so that key questions identified are fed into our thinking on future research.

The events will take place at Staple Inn as follows:

  • Dementia Workshop, Wednesday 28 November 2012, Staple Inn Hall, 16.30 for 16.55 start - 19.30.

Chaired by Professor Tom Dening (University of Nottingham) and Baroness Sally Greengross (Chief Executive, International Longevity Centre - UK).

  • Socioeconomic inequalities in mortality and longevity, Tuesday 12 March 2013, Staple Inn Hall, 17.00 - 19.00 (registration from 16.30)

Presenters were Professor David Blane of Imperial College, Professor Peter Goldblatt of University College, London and Professor Steven Haberman with Andreas Villegas of Cass Business School.

  • Results of commissioned research on mortality/morbidity/longevity, Monday 17 June 2013, Staple Inn Hall, 17.00 - 19.00 (registration from 16.30)

Authors of the three projects supported by the Profession presented their findings.
