How does the CMI work?

Most aspects of the CMI’s operations did not change as at 1 March 2013. The CMI’s committee structure of volunteers from the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries continues to oversee the work of our four investigations and mortality projections and we continue to outsource data collection and processing to a third party.

However these operations are now undertaken within a new UK private company, Continuous Mortality Investigation Limited (“CMI”), which is limited by shares and wholly owned by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. It is registered in England & Wales (Company number: 8373631) with its Registered Office at: Staple Inn Hall, High Holborn, London, WC1V 7QJ.

The company has a board of directors; with just two directors - the Chief Executive of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and a nominated member of the CMI Executive Committee.
