Exam centres

A full list of available examination centres is provided in the instructions that accompany the examination entry form. Candidates wishing to sit at a centre not shown in the entry instructions must make early application.

Requests for additional centres will be considered based on demand and availability. The deadline for such applications will be displayed in the entry instructions and requests made subsequently cannot be considered.

Please use this comments form if you have any comments about the exam centres.

Exam candidates should be aware that perfect examination conditions cannot be guaranteed; for example we have no influence over external noise.

If any interruption occurs during the examination candidates must continue to write their answers. All incidents are notified on a report by the invigilator, which is forwarded to the Board of Examiners. If concerned, candidates should follow this up with Napier House to ensure that the incident has been reported, as it cannot be taken into account after results are published.

Any prolonged interruption eg a fire alarm or security alert which causes the examination to be stopped will again be notified to the Board of Examiners. Should candidates be instructed to leave the room, they must leave their question paper and answer booklet on the desk and not speak to anyone outside the examination room. As soon as candidates are able to re-enter the examination room they should continue answering the questions.

Extra time will be given to accommodate the time lost, if appropriate. If too much time has been lost, eg more than an hour, the invigilator will collect scripts and examination papers and the scripts will be marked on the answers made in the time available, taking into account the incident that interrupted the examination.

At the end of the examination, Comment forms will be available for students to complete if they wish to register any problems. Comment forms must be returned within three weeks of the examinations taking place in order to be taken into account by the Board of Examiners.

Candidates should also be aware of security at all times and not leave bags unattended outside the examination room, and should ensure they have their attendance permits with them on entering the examination room.
