To apply for exemptions from some of our professional exams you must be a student member or an affiliate of the Faculty or the Institute of Actuaries. If you are not currently a member find out how to become a student or email admissions@actuaries.org.uk for more information.
If you are a current student of the Faculty or the Institute of Actuaries, the Actuarial Profession is prepared to give you credit for having already demonstrated a sufficient knowledge of our examination syllabus.
If you have already achieved a required standard in a university programme, or in an alternative qualification with another professional body recognised by us, we may grant exemptions from some of our professional exams. - An actuarial degree or diploma (undergraduate or postgraduate)
- A non-actuarial numerate degree (undergraduate or postgraduate)
- Exam passes from any of these actuarial professional bodies?

One of the following qualifications?
- MBA
- ACCA Qualification
- Chartered Financial Analyst (formerly membership of the Association for Investment Management and Research)
- Fellowship of the Chartered Insurance Institute
- Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants
- Fellowship of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales
- Fellowship of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland
- If you have completed and passed an undergraduate or postgraduate actuarial programme which has been accredited by the Actuarial Profession you could gain blocks of exemptions from the exams. Further information
- If you have completed a dissertation or thesis on an actuarial or numeric subject you can also gain an exemption from one of the Specialist Technical exams through alternative study (ST0). Further information
- If you have qualified as an actuary outside the UK your qualification may be recognised by the UK Profession under Mutual Recognition arrangements. Further information
