Casualty Actuarial Society students

Have you passed a qualification with the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS)?

The Faculty and Institute of Actuaries could grant, on the following terms, exemption from their examinations to students who have passed Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) examinations.

  • You should ensure that your examinations are converted to the current CAS syllabus prior to application for exemption with the Faculty or Institute of Actuaries.
  • For further details on CAS examinations, conversion of CAS examinations to the current CAS syllabus, or the conversion of Faculty or Institute of Actuaries examinations to CAS exams please contact the Casualty Actuarial Society directly.
Casualty Actuarial Society examinations passed: Exemptions given from the Faculty and Institute examinations:
Exam 1 and VEE - Applied Statistical Methods CT3
Exam 2 CT1
VEE Corporate Finance CT2
Exams 3, 4 CT4
VEE - Economics CT7
Exam 3F - Fianancial Economics CT8


If you passed any of the above exams before 2008 please contact exemptions@actuaries.org.uk with details of the exams and the dates they were passed. They will then send you further details of the application process.

If you passed an exam with the Casualty Actuarial Society before 2008, which does not appear on the above list, please contact exemptions@actuaries.org.uk with details of the exams and the dates they were passed. They will then advise you how to proceed.
