Applying for exemptions via actuarial degree courses

Do you hold an undergraduate or postgraduate actuarial science degree?

If you hold an actuarial science degree or diploma from one of the universities in the following list, you may be eligible for exemption from some or all of the Core Technical (CT), and in some cases the Core Applications (CA) subjects and the Specialist Technical (ST) subjects.

The subject by subject exemption agreements that the Actuarial Profession has with the universities are based on information that they have provided us with. If you are considering applying for one or more programmes on this list, we strongly recommend that you contact the university for further information first.

Actual awards of exemptions will depend on the specific modules taken and the grades obtained.

A university may make a decision not to run advertised accreditation programme modules. The university's own website will give more details on current modules offered.

The Actuarial Profession is unable to advise you on the degree programme, or the programme options, which you need to take. Our best advice is to take the programme where your abilities are the strongest, as actuarial employers are looking for a minimum 2.1 in a numerical degree.

If you hold an actuarial degree or diploma from a university in this list, please include the following in your application

  • A completed application form including payment for your exemptions
  • a certified copy of your degree certificate which shows you have graduated from a university programme
  • a certified copy of the official full university transcript of your marks of your university programme which should include each academic year that you completed at your university.

Both the degree certificate and each page of your official university transcript should be certified by either a Fellow or Associate who is employed by your company, and who is a member of either the Faculty, Institute or an IAA recognised actuarial association.

The Fellow or Associate who certifies your documents must provide the following information on the documents:

  • Full name
  • Signature
