Have you passed a qualification with the Society of Actuaries?

Faculty and Institute of Actuaries offer to students who have passed examinations with the Society of Actuaries

The Faculty and Institute of Actuaries could grant, on the following terms, exemption from their examinations to students who have passed Society of Actuaries (SoA) examinations.

If you have passed exams under Society of Actuaries strategies before 2008 please contact exemptions@actuaries.org.uk with details of the exams and the dates they were passed. They will then send you further details of the application process.

Society of Actuaries examinations passed: Exemptions given from the Faculty and Institute examinations:
Exam P - Probability, and VEE Statistics CT3 - Probability and Mathematical Statistics
Exam FM - Financial Mathematics CT1 - Financial Mathematics
VEE Corporate Finance CT2 - Finance and Financial Reporting
Exams MLC - Life Contingencies, and C - Construction and Evaluation of Actuarial Models
Exemptions are not given for these exams individually - you must have passed both exams
CT4 - Models, and CT5 - Contingencies
VEE - Economics CT7 - Economics
Exam MFE - Financial Economics CT8 - Financial Economics
All Modules of Fundamentals of Actuarial Practice CA1 - Actuarial Risk Management
Group and Health Company/Sponsor Perspective (CSP) ST1 - Health and Care Specialist Technical
Individual Life and Annuities Company/Sponsor Perspective (CSP) ST2 - Life Insurance Specialist Technical
Retirement Company/Sponsor Perspective (CSP) ST4 - Pensions and Other Benefits Specialist Technical
Advanced Finance/ERM ST0 - Alternative Specialist Technical
Advanced Portfolio Management (Investments) ST0 - Alternative Specialist Technical


Society of Actuaries' offer to students who have passed examinations with the Faculty and Institute of Actuaries

If you are a student of the Society of Actuaries you may be eligible for exemptions based on exams you have passed with the Faculty and Institute of Actuaries. For further information, click on the link below:

Important information:

  • Waiver from the Society of Actuaries examinations based on Faculty and Institute examinations can only be earned by passing the examinations with the Faculty and Institute of Actuaries, BUT:
  • Faculty/Institute exemptions for Subjects CT1-CT7 are acceptable for exemption from SoA exams provided that the exemptions were acquired through an accredited Faculty/Institute university programme.
  • Exemption waiver credit from another system of actuarial education to Faculty/Institute credit will not be accepted by the SoA for waiver/exemption of its courses.
