Disciplinary Appointments Committee

Composition

The Disciplinary Appointments Committee (DAC) is led by John Martin QC.

Its composition is governed by the disciplinary schemes of the Actuarial Profession, which specify that the Committee must be chaired by a lay person appointed alternately by the Dean of the Faculty of Advocates in Scotland and the Chairman of the General Council of the Bar in England and Wales.

The two Fellows of the Faculty and two Fellows of the Institute, appointed by the respective Councils, make up the membership. All hold office for up to three years from 1 January 2004, renewable.  Biographical notes about Committee members are available.

Role

The Disciplinary Appointments Committee appoints all the actuaries and lay members who undertake roles under the Actuarial Profession's disciplinary schemes. It recruits by advertisement in the actuarial and lay press and on this website: see vacancies for members.
