The role of the Disciplinary Board

The Board oversees the monitoring of the profession's disciplinary schemes. It is responsible to the Councils of the Faculty and Institute and reports to them, and also reports annually to the membership. It also makes regulations and provides guidelines on procedures under the scheme.


Composition

The Board is led by a lay Chairman, John Hayes, CBE, LLB. Its composition is governed by the disciplinary scheme and it is appointed by the Disciplinary Appointments Committee. It has three lay members, one of whom is the Chairman. Three Fellows of the Faculty and three Fellows of the Institute make up the membership. All hold office for up to three years from 1 January 2004, renewable at the discretion of the Disciplinary Appointments Committee. Biographical notes about the Board members are available.

Disciplinary Board Reports

The Disciplinary Board reports bi-annually to Faculty and Institute Councils, and also reports annually to the membership.
