IAA Newsletter

Forthcoming international events

International LIFE/AFIR Colloquium 2009
The German actuarial association, Deutsche Aktuarvereinigung, will host the third International LIFE Colloquium and the 17th International AFIR Colloquium which will be held consecutively from 7-11 September 2009 in Munich, Germany. Both colloquia are designed to cover topics which will create a stimulating and challenging experience for actuaries as well as scientists and practitioners from all over the world who share an interest in life insurance and the management of financial risks. To build a bridge between both colloquia a joint programme addressing issues of mutual interest will be offered on Wednesday 9 September 2009. The programme will include formal addresses by eminent keynote speakers, topical seminar-type sessions with invited presenters, and a variety of parallel sessions at which submitted papers will be presented.

1st Announcement & Call for Papers
Authors are invited to submit papers on all financial topics or actuarial subjects relevant to life insurance. Full details of the 1st Announcement, the colloquium themes and the call for papers may be found online at http://www.actuaries.org/Munich2009

Authors should submit their abstracts by 28 February 2009.

18th International AFIR Colloquium
The 18th AFIR Colloquium will be held in Rome from 1-3 October 2008. As usual, the AFIR Colloquium represents a unique chance to gather all actuaries involved in financial issues. In addition, it offers the opportunity to share actuarial skills and quantitative techniques with stakeholders. This is particularly important at a moment in which social and economical conditions are rapidly changing and growing importance is attributed to financial risk related matters.
