Following the success of The Elephant in the Room last year, the Diversity Advisory Group (DAG) is delighted to announce its latest event – a panel debate which discusses tried and tested strategies to harness the benefits of a diverse workforce.

Chair: Chika Aghadiuno, DAG Chair

Understanding the business benefits of a diverse workforce is one thing, but how can we embrace diversity and be truly inclusive to really harness the benefits? This event offers you the chance to speak with experts in the field to find out what really works and discuss the challenges you might face.

The event will cover discussion on the following topics:

  • The benefits of a diverse team
  • How to be truly inclusive
  • Recruitment strategies for success

Our panel consists of individuals at the forefront in this area and includes Lord Michael Hastings CBE, KPMG International’s Head of Citizenship; Suki Sandhu, Founder and CEO of OUTstanding and Audeliss, and Co-Founder of UPstanding; and Angela Darlington, Group Chief Risk Officer, Aviva. Our experts will share advice, strategies for success and tackle the trickiest questions the audience care to throw at them.

Nick Salter, past President, will introduce the evening reflecting on the progress which has been made since his 2014/2015 Presidential theme of Diversity brought the topic to the fore at the IFoA.

This event is part of a wider programme of work being delivered by the Diversity Advisory Group which aims to support members around diversity and inclusion issues in the profession against a backdrop of high profile industry reviews and targets.

Who should attend?

We welcome any IFoA member interested in a discussion on how to achieve effective and inclusive team performance and who wants to learn from experts in the field. We are especially keen to expand our audience to anyone who might not normally attend an event on diversity – please circulate to colleagues and encourage them to attend!

You may count time spent at this event towards meeting the IFoA’s Stage 3 Professional Skills Training under the IFoA’s CPD Scheme 2016/17
