This is a Chinese Actuarial Network UK (CANUK) event.
CANUK is an independent and non-profit organisation committed to provide a networking platform and a communication channel to other Chinese actuarial associations and networks (in the rest of the world) for actuaries in the UK.
CANUK is holding its 2017 annual event at Staple Inn. The event will feature presentations and Q&A sections on:
- Data science – Data, Cognitive and IoT in the Insurance Industry by Robin Hepplestone and Theo Grigorakakis, Data Scientists at IBM.
- Entrepreneurship – Seizing an Opportunity by Buu Truong, Founder and Managing Director at Insight Risk Consulting.
Presentations will be followed by networking opportunities to close the night.
Speakers’ profiles
Robin Hepplestone
Robin has extensive experience in the UK Insurance industry and Data Science. Robin has managed customer analytics and modelling teams, focused on novel commercial use of analytics and new analytics. Robin has delivered a number of Proof of Concepts, led projects on customer strategy, Business Intelligence, and development of analytical capability. As well as being interested in Data Science and Machine Learning, Robin is particularly enthusiastic about commercial applications of Data Science and the development analytical functions. Robin has degrees from University of Surrey and University of East Anglia.
Theo Grigorakakis
Theo is an experienced Leader in the Data Science and Analytics space, with a proven track record across Financial Services. Theo has successfully delivered solutions, strategy work and proof of concepts, working as Data Scientist, Project Manager, Technical Lead and Business Analyst. Passionate about Management & Strategy, Data Science, Big Data & Analytics, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. Theo holds degrees from London School of Economics, National Technical University of Athens and Beijing Language and Culture University.
Buu Truong
Buu is the founder and Managing Director of Insight Risk Consulting. Prior to setting up Insight, Buu held senior actuarial roles in the London Market, including Chief Actuary of a Bermudan insurance group. Buu started his career in consulting, qualifying as a general insurance actuary in 2004. Buu believes that you should never stop learning.
