Improving the Success of InsurTech Opportunities Including a Guide for Risk

The Risk Management in a Digital World working party was formed in response to the ever increasing influence that the digital world is having on the insurance sector.

By commissioning a survey and carrying out interviews with key individuals and companies from both within and outside the Actuarial Profession, the Working Party has considered both the appropriateness of existing Enterprise Risk Management Frameworks and the capability of practitioners within insurance companies in the context of InsurTech.

The Working Party will present their report and findings at this sessional research event and will use the opportunity to launch their 'Guide for Risk Considerations During the Innovation Journey', in order to support the further development of risk considerations in decision making throughout the InsurTech investment process.

The event will include a presentation of the report then an interactive Q&A session, with event attendees feedback fed into the next phase of the project.

Darko Popovic

Darko is a senior manager at Crowe Global Risk Consulting where specialises in assisting companies with risk and capital management, and the embedding of risk consideration in strategic decision making. His industry background ranges from roles at a start-up micro-insurer through to established consultancy and in-house life insurance company experience, for firms across Europe, North America and South Africa.

Richard Purcell

Richard leads the insurance innovation services within the Life & Financial Services practice at Hymans Robertson. He has previously worked in a variety of roles from risk management and actuarial reporting through to the development and marketing of innovative new protection and retirement products. Richard is also a member of the Health & Care practice board at the Institute & Faculty of Actuaries.

This session will be of interest to actuaries and risk practitioners working in the innovation and digital teams of insurance companies, as well as to those who have an interest in InsurTech and digital developments more generally.
