A wave of digital disruption is impacting businesses on a global scale: Apple have transformed the music industry, Amazon has displaced many high street brands and AirBnB has changed the way we book our holidays. The financial system is now starting to feel similar shock waves through the advent of Financial Technology (FinTech).
Barry Smart, CTO and Partner at Hymans Robertson, will provide an insight into the forces that are driving FinTech and examples of emerging "InsurTech" business models that threaten to disrupt the insurance industry. In doing so he will attempt to answer some important questions such as:
- What can we learn from the way in which FinTech start-ups operate?
- What technologies will we need to understand and what new skills will we need to build in order to survive in an increasingly digital world?
