The IFoA is delighted to host a networking event that will showcase Risk Management on major projects.

Crossrail is the new high frequency, high capacity railway for London and the South East which is due to be completed in 2019. From the early stages, risk management was identified as being critical to the success of the project and throughout its development and delivery, senior management promoted and championed a proactive approach to dealing with uncertainty and risk.

Why attend?

  • Learn about this major infrastructure project and some of its challenges;
  • Find out how risk management supported delivery, provided assurance and informed better decision making on this major project;
  • Understand how quantitative methods were used in the assessment of project risk and informed projections of the outturn cost.

Who should attend?

  • Anyone interested in major infrastructure projects;
  • Anyone interested in the practical application of risk assessment and risk management techniques.

Rob Halstead was Head of Risk Management for Crossrail from 2009 to 2016. During that period he has led the development and implementation of a comprehensive risk management framework, developing the policy, process, systems and tools required to effectively manage risk on this infrastructure mega-project. He is now a Director of Turner & Townsend Infrastructure.
