Actuaries are increasingly being looked to in order to support the delivery of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This interactive event will bring together experts from government, academia, think tanks, the third sector, and those from the actuarial profession and elsewhere in financial services to discuss the how the core elements of the actuarial skillset can be applied to achieve the UN’s SDGs.

The UN’s 17 global goals for sustainable development and their associated targets would eradicate all forms of poverty, in developed and developing nations, by 2030. Governments around the world are articulating their plans for how they will deliver progress against the goals but more must be don’t to harness the capital and expertise within the financial services industry. This will be vital in meeting the goals.

Ken Buffin, The Buffin Foundation, will chair the workshop which will consider how actuarial science can be applied, and promoted, to ensure the goals are met and no one is left behind.
