International strategy

Supporting our members, maintaining the standards.

The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) is one of the preeminent actuarial associations in the world by size of membership and global influence. Our high quality qualification provides our members with a passport to career opportunities throughout the world.

The global nature of our organisation means that consideration of our international membership features as a first step in any development of education, member support, regulation, thought leadership or promotional activity. We also work with our global stakeholders on these matters to help develop the working environment of our members around the globe.

IFoA International Strategy

We undertake our international engagement within the framework of our International Strategy, which aims to support actuaries in delivering quality work no matter where they are in the world. The strategy is underpinned by the two themes of:

Proactive engagement with our members, other actuarial bodies and regulators to support and influence them for the overall good of actuarial science, actuaries and the IFoA.

Equivalence and accessibility across the provision of member services, regardless of where our members are based.

International Board

The International Board is tasked with supporting the IFoA in the formulation and delivery of the International Strategy and facilitating communication with our international stakeholders.

The Board also oversees the volunteer engagement of our international representatives to ensure that our voice is heard within the International Actuarial Association (IAA) and Actuarial Association of Europe (AAE).

Each Practice Board is represented on the International Board to facilitate a flow of information between the IFoA’s international activities and the Boards. Regulation Board, Education Board the Presidential Team is also represented on the International Board.
