On the evening of Monday 22 October, David Hare, President Elect of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, presented Professor Mary Hardy with the Finalison Medal before an audience of members, family and friends at a Sessional Research meeting at London's Staple Inn.

David Hare told the audience that; “This award reflects the significant contribution that Professor Hardy has made and continues to make to the Profession in education, research, translation of research into practice and governance in furthering these aims, since graduating in mathematics in 1979 and qualifying as an FIA in 1988.

“Professor Hardy is an active member of the Profession, helping to further the education of actuaries, push the boundaries of research and bridge the world of academia and business, and has much more to contribute yet. Her record of service to the Profession, in the UK and worldwide, is outstanding and the award of this Finlaison Medal is highly deserved.”
