Visesh Gosrani, Chair of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries Cyber Risk Investigation Working PartyVisesh Gosrani, Chair of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries Cyber Risk Investigation Working Party, joins Advisory Board of Cyber Risk Modeling Company Kovrr

In this blog post, Visesh reflects on an exciting opportunity this volunteer role has provided to him and encourages others to get involved too.

Earlier this year, before we all entered self-isolation, myself and members of the Cyber Risk Investigation working party held a roundtable at which we discussed our views on the solutions from model providers we had seen to date. The purpose of the roundtable was to provide guidance to the modelling providers, as it was felt that a closer, more constructive working relationship between the two would lead to better outcomes.

The outcome
One of the cyber risk model vendors, Kovrr, has really liked the messages we've been promoting and has asked me to join their Advisory Board so that they can have that steer more directly. That is a huge positive as it enables the working party’s voice to be heard, and affords the opportunity to steer more directly.

What Kovrr’s CEO has said
Yakir Golan, CEO of Kovrr, said “We’re excited to welcome Visesh to the Advisory Board. Kovrr constantly introduces innovation to provide its customers with unique views of risk. I’m confident that Visesh’s extensive experience in actuarial science, cyber risk modeling, and the insurance industry will be a great asset to Kovrr’s team, customers, and partners.”

Impact
This is a really great example of how volunteering with the IFoA can have an impact, both professionally and personally.

Visesh added “All the like-minded volunteers have joined to better understand Cyber Risk. We each have unique knowledge and insight and the IFoA working party provides a safe space to challenge each other whilst working on a specific topic. As a result, the messages we bring to the insurance community are more considered and we learn from each other. The reception from Kovrr and also from the wider insurance community shows that joining a working party enables you to refine and amplify the messages from your research for the area you are passionate in”.
