The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) has confirmed the election of Amlan Roy and Paul Johnson as Honorary Fellows.

Both Amlan and Paul were nominated by the IFoA’s Council. Their election was confirmed by an online members’ vote conducted by Civica Election Services in May 2020.

IFoA President Tan Suee Chieh said: “I am very pleased that these two influential experts in economics and finance have been elected as Honorary Fellows of our professional body. They have both made significant contributions to the world we inhabit as actuaries and have both contributed throughout their careers to the fight against inequality.

“In financial services and in academia, Dr Roy’s pioneering research on demographics related to economics, investments and social policy has been internationally lauded. He is a long-term friend of the IFoA and it is a pleasure to be able to confer an Honorary Fellowship. I look forward to working with Dr Roy in the future.

“As director of the Institute for Fiscal Studies, Paul is a well-respected economist whose experience spans both government and academia. He is a regular Times columnist and a frequent contributor to other UK and international media, such as the Guardian. His experience and opinions on government spending, inequality and pensions carry real weight amongst policy makers and financial services commentators.

“We are privileged to form this association with both of them.”
