Suee Chieh briefly introduced the development and achievements of the IFoA in the region including member support, education partnership and stakeholder relationship. He also shared his views on the DNA of actuaries and IFoA’s work around the VSMD strategy (Vision, Skillsets, Mindsets and Domains). Suee Chieh announced that the IFoA will be introducing new credential offerings to prepare our members for the fast-changing industry. These credentials include the inclusion of a Fellowship banking exam and Certificate in Climate Change. The new Certificate in Data Science which was introduced earlier this year has proven a huge success due to high demand.

Stephen then provided updates and reflections on the voice of the actuarial profession, the transformation of the IFoA and our lifelong learning strategy. He introduced the key features of the IFoA’s new CPD scheme and one of the IFoA’s key focus areas – member value proposition. Stephen wrapped up his session summarising the IFoA’s response and reactions towards the COVID-19 pandemic, including moving exams and events online, members/employees' wellbeing and support, as well as the evolution of the IFoA's office operation.

During the Q&A session, Suee Chieh and Stephen answered numerous questions from the participants on the IFoA’s international strategy for Greater China and South-East Asia, subscription updates during Covid-19 and the IFoA’s reaction on supporting members to face the challenges from new technology such as AI and data science.

This event has created a great opportunity for IFoA members in the region to have direct dialogue with the IFoA's presidential and executive leadership teams. The IFoA is in the midst of planning further Town Hall meetings for members in the other regions. Please follow the IFoA's media platforms and email notices for further information.

The webinar was recorded and will be available to view on the IFoA’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and the IFoA’s YouTube page shortly.
