The IFoA Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Scheme for 2019/2020 is now available online and includes changes to the CPD requirements for members in Categories 1, 2, 3 and 4.

The new CPD requirements came into force on 1 July 2019. Please ensure that you understand any changes which affect your requirements.

Changes to the 2019/2020 CPD Requirements for Categories 1, 2, 3 and 4 are:

  • Category 1 - Practising Certificate holders can now include a maximum of 5 hours of private study within the required 30 hours of CPD.
  • Category 2 - members who work outside the UK and opt to comply with the CPD requirements of another IAA body, which is considered by the IFoA to be broadly equivalent to the IFoA’s CPD Scheme and is listed at Schedule 5 to the CPD Scheme, now need to demonstrate that they hold membership of that body at the same level as a Fellow or an Associate of the IFoA.
  • Category 3 –has been removed from the CPD Scheme. Members can apply for partial regulation membership status for the 2019/2020 subscription year, provided that they meet the criteria set out in the application form and follow category 2 requirements for members working outside the UK.
  • Category 4 - Certified Actuarial Analyst members now need to complete 2 hours of Stage 3 Professional Skills Training in line with other members.
