The Life Research Sub-committee is seeking volunteers to join a new working party on the role of actuaries in new product delivery.

The working party will examine the following questions:

  • Actuaries play a role in the design, marketing and management of products for life insurers - what lessons can be learnt from the past product failures (mis-selling, complaints, regulator actions), e.g. the Mortgage Endowments Review?
  • What role do actuaries have in ensuring product designs; supporting marketing materials and sales practices lead to a reasonable range of customer outcomes; and acting in the public interest?
  • What are the regulator’s expectations?

If you are a life insurance actuary with recent experience in the areas of product design, marketing or operational risk, please do consider applying for the Chair, Deputy Chair or Member role.  Academics or other professionals with a strong interest in the societal role of insurance may also be considered.
