Can you lead our profession into the future?

We are looking for members join our Council and help shape the future of the Actuarial profession.

As a member of Council you will help to set the strategic direction of the IFoA and deliver the IFoA’s public interest objective. Becoming a Council member offers a fantastic opportunity to share your insight and knowledge with your peers and develop your skills and experience.

Who can stand for election to Council?

If you are a Fellow or Associate of the IFoA and want to make your mark on the global actuarial profession, you should consider applying to join our Council. As a Council member you will help guide and support actuaries through times of change, influence key decisions and expand the actuarial profession. 

We are especially keen to encourage members who will increase the diversity of Council, particularly in relation to gender, geographical spread, and professional areas of expertise to stand for election. This will help Council rise to the particular strategic challenges that lie ahead, and ensure the breath and diversity of our membership is represented at the highest level.

What’s involved?

You will need to submit a nomination and biography and be supported by one proposer and one seconder. You can find details about the nomination process on our elections website

If elected, your appointment would start on 29 June 2018 and would normally run for three years. You will be expected to regularly take part in Council meetings in London, one or two regional meetings and one internationally. While members of Council are encouraged to attend all meetings in person, we recognise that this may not always be possible and, at such times, you will be expected to attend by the most practicable means.
