Christopher Reynolds

Chris Reynolds, outgoing Chair of the IFoA Health and Care Research Sub-committee reflects on his time in the role:

Over the last two years I’ve had the privilege to chair the Health and Care Research Sub-Committee. This has been an excellent experience as it’s allowed me to be at the heart of the research being undertaken in the Health and Care space.

As Chair I’ve also been the link between the Research Sub-Committee and the Health and Care Board. This has allowed me to expand my network as I interact with both bodies.

During my tenure the Sub-committee has worked with the Board to establish new member led working parties on topics including Wearables, E-Cigarettes, Antibiotic Resistance and Diabetes. Many of these working parties have been productive and presented at conferences, written articles or contributed to wider debate in some way. We’ve also successfully transformed the fledgling Hot Topics event into a well-established regular event in the annual calendar.

Throughout my time as Chair we’ve had the pleasure to welcome a wide and diverse range of guests to our Sub-committee meetings, so that we obtain external perspectives and expert option on emerging topics.

So now I reach the end of my term as Chair and it just remains for me to wish the incoming Chair, Scott Reid, all the best for the future. I leave Scott with a newly refreshed Sub-committee brimming with ideas and new thinking. I am confident that he and the Sub-committee will take the area of research to a whole new level.
